Morning Sports Podcast: Thursday, March 9th

Conference tournaments continue in college basketball this week, leading up to selection Sunday, when the NCAA Tournament field will be announced. In the Big Ten last night, Ohio State over Wisconsin, 65-57, and Minnesota downed Nebraska, 78-75. Today, Michigan leads off the day at noon against Rutgers, the first of four games. Ohio State and Iowa follow at 2:30, and the evening ssession today has Penn State against Illinois, and Minnesota against Maryland. Purdue, Indiana, and Michigan State begin play in tomorrow’s quarterfinals, each earning a double bye as one of the top four seeds. Saturday’s semifinals will be heard heard Saturday afternoon right here, along with the tournament final Sunday at 3, ahead of the NCAA Selection Show Sunday at 6 on Sports Radio 960 WSBT.

In the ACC, quarterfinals are today, leading off with Wake Forest against Miami at noon, then Duke against against Pitt at 2:30. We will join the evening session in progress after Mike Brey’s final radio show tonight at 7, following Budweiser’s Weekday Sportsbeat. We’ll hear the second half of the Virginia-North Carolina game, followed by Clemson and NC State here on Sports Radio 960 WSBT.

In hockey: the Redwings edged the Chicago Blackhawks in Detroit, 4-to-3.
