Morning Sports Podcast: Tuesday, March 28th

The women’s Final Four in college basketball is set, after two more teams punched their tickets Monday night. Defending champion South Carolina is through to the national semifinals on the strength of an 86-to-75 win over Maryland, the team that knocked Notre Dame out of the tournament in the Sweet 16 on Friday. The ACC is represented in the Final Four by Virginia Tech, which downed Ohio State last night 84-to-74. Friday’s semifinals have Virginia Tech against LSU, followed by South Carolina against Iowa. The winners play for the title Sunday.

The men’s Final Four games are on tap for Saturday night, with San Diego State taking on Florida Atlantic, and Miami against UConn. The winners play for the title Monday night.

Spring practice continues for Notre Dame football, as coach Marcus Freeman sorts out who will do what for the 20-23 season beginning August 26th against Navy in Ireland. The Spring Blue-Gold game is April 22nd on Sports Radio 960 WSBT.

he NorthWood Panthers celebrated their first-ever state title in basketball Monday in Nappanee, after downing Guerin Catholic in overtime Saturday in Indy, 66-63, to win the 3A championship. Coach Aaron Wolfe credited Guerin Catholic for coming back to force overtime. NorthWood: your 3A boys basketball champion for 20-23.

NBA: Dallas over the Indiana Pacers in Indy, 127-104. Milwaukee downed the Pistons in Detroit, 126-117. The Chicago Bulls play the Clippers in L-A tonight.

In hockey, the Chicago Blackhawks welcome the Dallas Stars to the United Center in Chicago tonight. The Redwings host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight in Detroit.
