Kevin Warren said all the right things Tuesday in his formal introduction as team president of the Chicago Bears. Warren comes to the Bears with impressive credentials, after managing a new stadium project for the Minnesota Vikings before taking the job of Big Ten Commissioner, and overseeing the coming additions of USC and UCLA to the conference. In Chicago, Warren’s biggest job is to shepherd the construction of a new stadium in Arlington Heights to completion, as GM Ryan Poles works to rebuild the team on the field. The Bears sit atop the draft board after finishing 3-and-14.

In Indianapolis, the Colts are interviewing a number of candidates for their head coaching job, as interim coach Jeff Saturday lobbies to keep the job. After firing Frank Reich mid-season, the Colts stumbled to a 4-12-and-1 finish, and have significant needs this off season, not least of them a quarterback.

Notre Dame basketball showed some life late in the game last night at Purcell Pavilion, but the Irish had dug too deep a hole to avoid an 84-71 loss to Florida State. The Irish trailed by 24 points twice before mounting comeback that got within seven points with about 3 minutes to go. After the game, a frustrated Brey says the defense just wasn’t good enough. The Irish try to avenge an earlier road loss this Saturday against Boston College. Tipoff at 2:00 Saturday on Sports Radio 960 WSBT.

Hockey: the Chicago Blackhawks won at home, downing Buffalo 4-to-3 in overtime. The Detroit Redwings lost at Arizona in a shootout, 4-to-3.
