Notre Dame women’s basketball is out of the top ten in the AP college poll for the first time this season, following a blowout semifinal loss to Louisville in the ACC Tournament last weekend. The Irish come in at number 11 this week as they await word on their NCAA Tournament seeding and destination. Selections will be announced this Sunday evening. Various projections have the Irish as a number three seed, which would mean the Irish would play first and second round games at home in Purcell Pavilion. The focus for the program right now is on the health of starting point guard Olivia Miles, who suffered a knee injury in the regular season finale against Louisville, and has not played since.

Tonight, the Irish men open ACC Tournament play as the 14 seed out of 15 teams, in a 7pm tipoff in Greensboro, North Carolina, against 11 seed Virginia Tech. A win would send the Irish to Wednesday’s second round against 6 seed North Carolina State. A loss would end the season, and the 23 year tenure of Mike Brey as head coach. Tony Simeone has the call starting at 6:30 tonight here on Sports Radio 960 WSBT.

Purdue holds at number 5 in this week’s AP college basketball poll, and Indiana falls four spots to 19th, as both prepare for the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. Both teams earned double byes, meaning they don’t play until Friday’s third round, and need win only three games to win the tournament. First and second round games are Wednesday and Thursday.

High school sectional scores from Monday night, after games were delayed by weather over the weekend: Mishawaka downed Michigan City 77-68 in LaPorte to win their 4A sectional, and in Elkhart, Penn beat Northridge 75-62 to win that sectional. Regional action this Saturday in Michigan City will pit Penn against Chesterton, and Mishawaka against Hammond Central. The winners will face off for the regional title.

NBA: the Indiana Pacers lost at home to Philadelphia, 147-143. Portland over the Pistons in Detroit, 110-104.
