Notre Dame football has apparently poached offensive line coach Joe Rudolph from Virginia Tech. Multiple reports say Rudolph and Notre Dame are finalizing an agreement for him to coach the line here in South Bend. Rudolph will succeed the retired Harry Heistand, filling the final vacancy on Coach Marcus Freeman’s staff. Rudolph tweeted a farewell message to Virginia Tech, without saying where he’s going. He is a former offensive coordinator at Wisconsin, and earlier coached at Pittsburgh.

The big question for 10th ranked Notre Dame basketball this week is the availability of starting point guard Olivia Miles for the ACC Tournament starting Friday. Miles left Sunday’s regular season-ending win at Louisville with a knee injury, and so far this morning we have no update on how serious it is. Sonia Citron stepped up to score 27 points Sunday, and the Irish could need all that and more in tournament play. Notre Dame faces the winner of Thursday’s NC State-Syracuse game on Friday in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Despite Sunday’s 79-to-71 home loss to Indiana, Purdue remains at number five in this week’s AP College Basketball poll. Indiana moves up two spots to 15th in the poll released Monday. The Hoosiers host Iowa tonight in Bloomington. Purdue is at Wisconsin on Thursday. Maryland entered the poll this week at number 21. They play at Ohio State tomorrow. Also tonight in the Big Ten, Michigan State is at Nebraska, and on Thursday, Michigan plays at Illinois.

In the NBA: the Detroit Pistons lost at Charlotte, 117-106. Tonight, the Chicago Bulls play at Toronto, and the Indiana Pacers are at Dallas.

Hockey: the Chicago Blackhawks lost at Ahaheim, 4-to-2, breaking a five game Chicago win streak. The Blackhawks also traded defenseman Jake McCabe and forward Sam Lafferty to the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Joey Anderson, a prospect, and two draft picks.

The Detroit Redwings lost at Ottawa, 6-to-2.
