After scoring only 22 points the entire first half, the 7th ranked Notre Dame women exploded for 27 in the third quarter at Purcell Pavilion against number 24 Florida State. The Irish took a one point half time deficit and ran out to a 16 point lead at the end of the third quarter. The final was 70-to-47 as the Irish dominated the second half. Notre Dame is at North Carolina State this Sunday.

The Irish men are looking for something good to happen as they host Louisville tomorrow at Purcell Pavilion, trying to end what is now a four game losing streak. Tony Simeone with the call starting at 11:30 for a noon tipoff here on Sports Radio 960 AM WSBT.

In the Big Ten, top ranked Purdue got out of Ann Arbor with a win over Michigan last night, 75-to-70. In East Lansing, Michigan State edged Iowa, 63-61.

The field of candidates for Indianapolis Colts head coach is shrinking. Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn says he will stay in Dallas, after interviewing with four NFL teams, including the Colts. And we learned Thursday that former Colts coach Frank Reich, fired mid-season by owner Jim Irsay, will now coach the Carolina Panthers on a four year contract.

NFL Conference championship games are yours here on Sunday, a 3pm kickoff for the 2-and-a-half point underdog San Francisco 49ers in Philadelphia against the Eagles. At 6:30, the Kansas City Chiefs are a one point home favorite against the Cincinnati Bengals. Winners go to the Super Bowl in two weeks.

NBA: the Chicago Bulls lost at Charlotte, 111-96. The Detroit Pistons won at Brooklyn, 130-122.

Notre Dame hockey hosts Wisconsin tonight and tomorrow at the Compton Family Ice Arena. 7:30 tonight, 6pm Saturday, Darin Pritchitt calling both games on Quality Rock Z 94-3.

In the NHL: the Chicago Blackhawks won at Calgary, 5-to-1. The Detroit Redwings won at Montreal, 4-to-3 in overtime.
