KOSCIUSKO COUNTY – Police arrested 46-year-old Darrin Ray Gibbs at his home in rural Warsaw Thursday after they say he exposed and touched himself in front of several Amish children at a school located just southeast of Nappanee, in Kosciusko County.

According to police, Gibbs pulled up to the school in his van and took off his pants last Friday at around 8:30 in the morning.

It took police the better part of week to find him. Through reports of a license plate number, police were able to track Gibbs down at his home. Sgt. Chad Hill of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department said Gibbs admitted to the crime.

"Not initially, but eventually during the interview with the detective he admitted to the actions," Hill said.

According to some of the people in the area's Amish community, this wasn't the first time Gibbs had exposed himself at the school. They say he had stopped there three times in two weeks.
After the third exposure, the police were called.

Right now, police say they're glad someone like this is off the street.

"It's very concerning... to the people having children present,” Hill said. “If he does this, what's the next step or potential action that somebody like this would do?”

Gibbs has been charged with two felonies – indecent exposure and vicarious gratification.

Gibbs was arrested twice in Petoskey, Michigan for indecent exposure – once in 1987 and again in 1988. According to the Petoskey Police Department, Gibbs admitted to both of those crimes but the 1988 charge was dismissed in a plea. It's unclear if either of those crimes involved children.
