A speeding driver on Lincoln Highway near Elm Road, just outside Bourbon, crashed while trying to flee Bourbon Police Friday night.

Bourbon Police Officer Mathew Haskins told WSBT he clocked the driver at “71 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone.” The driver failed to stop for Haskins and at times during the chase, the driver’s speeds reached between 110 and 115 miles per hour.

About 7 minutes into the pursuit, the male driver lost control of his vehicle and it rolled several times in the 10000 block of 14th Road.

Haskins said the man, whose licensed had been previously suspended, had to be extricated from his vehicle and was then taken via ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Neither the man's name nor condition were available late Friday night.
