ELKHART – Elkhart County police are investigating the death of a five-year-old girl.
Police and medics were called to 59983 County Road 1 near County Road 26 in Baugo Township around 9:00 Sunday morning after the child was found unconscious in the home. Her parents made the emergency call to 911.
Lieutenant Travis Adamson of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department does not believe foul play was involved, although the county coroner will be conducting a full investigation.
Adamson tells WSBT-TV it appears the unidentified girl had a long history of medical issues or previous injuries that led to her health condition, which may have contributed to her untimely death.
