Recent vandalism at the Plymouth Country Club has been linked to some Plymouth High School football players, according to a source close to the investigation.
The grounds department says more than 47 divots were taken out of the putting surface and flags were stolen.
One employee said "this is by far the worst act that I have seen in my six years here and it sickens me to no end."
Our source says the damage came at the hands of six members of Plymouth High School's football team. Plymouth High School's athletic director confirmed the six have been suspended from games, but not from school. Some of the players are suspended 2.5 games, some 3 games, some the entire season -- varying number based on the number of times they've been in trouble in the past.
WSBT was at Plymouth's game Friday against Bremen. Starting quarterback Ike Kastner was one of several players sitting out due to suspensions that came down the day after the vandalism was discovered.
The athletic director said the students were not suspended from school because that's the way the schools code of conduct was written.
