ST. JOSEPH, Mich. – It's already a perfect new year for a handful of parents who welcomed new babies to the world on Tuesday.
All 8 pounds of Madison are healthy. Mom and dad are also beaming with pride.
Born with a full head of dark, beautiful hair, Madison was the first baby born in 2013 in the WSBT viewing area to parents Katrina and Jarrod in St. Joseph, Mich.
The Coloma couple is almost speechless.
"It's an amazing process," Jarrod said.
Katrina was prepared. She read the books, she knew what to expect.
But at the end of it all, nothing could prepare her for the emotional journey.
"I'm a labor nurse and I'm still blown away with what it was like to go through," Kartina said.
From St. Joe Michigan to St. Joe County, Ind., the second baby born was Diamond Alexandra.
"Everybody at work said you're gonna have a New Year baby. I said I don't get that lucky," said Mom, Jhontee Dietz of Mishawaka. She was blessed with her third child on Tuesday, her first girl.
"Easy... more easy than the other two," Dietz said.
It's a different story for the Hankins. Baby Madison is their first child.
"This is just day one," Katrina said.
And it's very fitting.
New year, new baby, new family.
"It's unbelievable, its crazy, crazy," said Katrina. "It's one thing when she's inside, another thing when she's here."
