BENTON TOWNSHIP – In a recent court filing, attorneys for Walgreens say former employee Jeremy Hoven was told he could be fired for having a gun at work.
The McClatchy-Tribune reports the pharmacist was told in an online orientation employees are not allowed to carry guns at work. But Hoven claims he didn't know about that policy.
Hoven was fired in May after he says he defended himself and shot at two men trying to rob the Benton Township Walgreens.
He has filed a lawsuit against the company, claiming it is violating his right to defend himself and fellow employees.
Hoven says he got a permit to carry the gun and started carrying it after the store was robbed in 2007.
