MILFORD – A 15-year-old Kosciusko County boy has been arrested after getting mad at his parents and hitting two police cars with a skid loader.

Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police were called to the area of County Road 250 West and County Road 900 North around 8:40 p.m. Saturday in regards to a teen who was out of control.

Police arrived and met with parents of the Milford boy, who said their son had fled their home in a farm implement skid loader crossing into a nearby field. The parents said their son got upset earlier in the evening and locked his mom from the home. The teen then brandished a baseball bat and machete and sped away in the skid loader.

The father let police use a 4-wheel ATV he owned to capture his son. As two officers approached the skid loader, the teen suddenly turned the machine around and then rammed the ATV with the front pallet fork attachment, completely disabling the ATV.

Police say the teen drove back out of the field towards marked squad cars on County Road 300 West. The boy then spun the skid loader, slamming into the front of both a Milford police car and a Kosciusko County squad car.

Officers tried to capture the teen for about an hour until they finally pepper sprayed him. The boy then surrendered and was taken to the Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Center.

The teen has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with substantial risk of death or injury.

He made his first court appearance on Monday and was returned to the Pierceton Woods Juvenile Center. His next dispositional hearing is scheduled for  December 27.
