More than 100 new jobs are coming to Mishawaka with a new restaurant.

The three owners of the new Golden Corral broke ground Tuesday and are ready to build the restaurant at the corner of Douglas and Main streets.

It will be a family-run business run through the system set up by the national chain, including meals made fresh in the restaurant.

The families involved have worked together for years.

“Our families are everything to us,” said co-owner Pam Zahrt. “That's why we do what we do for our family, for our kids.  We all worked together in another business and have for years.  And that's one thing, no matter how big we get we want to be a family business because that's where the values are, and everything we believe revolves around family.”

The owners say they looked at existing buildings, but none fit their needs.

"We've tried to go into existing locations including the old Ryan's, it just wasn't big enough for us."

The restaurant plans to hire 125 to 150 people when hiring starts in October. They hope to open in late November or early December.
