A massive Michiana food drive brought out thousands of volunteers on Saturday.
Nearly 100,000 pounds of food was distributed to 8 local food pantries, thanks to a number of area churches.
The Food Drop was timed this year for the tough months of January and February when donations typically drop off and the need is greatest.
“Especially nowadays, whether you want to factor in the economy or not, the need is strong all year long,” said volunteer Dan Scott. “There is constantly a need for food, shelter, things like that. This is just a way of hands on help.”
The Granger Community Church coordinated Saturday’s event.
