Missing West Valley City woman Susan Powell, 29, the mother of two young children was reported missing on Dec. 6, 2009. Here is a timeline of the search for Susan Powell:
2009
Monday, December 7: Police went to Powell home to investigate missing WVC woman when she didn't show up to work and her children weren't dropped off at day care. They found no one.
Tuesday, December 8: Josh Powell told police he left his wife about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 7 to take his two boys, ages 2 and 4, camping in subfreezing conditions. He returned later that day about 5 p.m. West Valley City Police, Capt. Tom Mclachalan said, "The husband returned home with the children in the family car but Susan was still missing."
Wednesday, December 9: Police spent two hours removing items from the Powell home. Police say Josh Powell is not a suspect at this time.
Thursday, December 10: Police searched the Simpson Spring Recreation Area and found no sign of Josh Powell's campsite.
Friday, December 11: Police still have no arrests and said Josh Powell was not a suspect but a person of interest but call the disappearance "highly suspicious."
Saturday, December 12: Josh Powell's family held a press conference. Community members pass out fliers with pictures of Susan Powell.
Monday, December 14: Josh Powell retains attorney.
Tuesday, December 15: Police say Josh Powell did not show up for interview, hindering investigation.
Wednesday, December 16: Police again question Josh Powell, call him a person of interest.
Thursday, December 17: Police again search Powell home. Family saddened but not surprised that Josh Powell is a person of interest.
Friday, December 18: Police seize evidence from Powell home, obtain five search warrants.
Sunday, December 20: Family, friends of Powell hold candlelight vigil for missing woman.
Monday, December 21: Reward of $10,000 offered by anonymous donor for information leading to the location of Powell.
Tuesday, December 22: Police look into vehicle rented by Josh Powell, say he had driven several hundred miles in the vehicle.
Wednesday, December 23: Neighbors say Josh Powell was possibly involved in the disappearance of his wife.
Monday, December 28: Police seal warrants in Powell case.
