Education Coordinator Ellen Balkin says, "We have kids come in for two 2-week sessions for a half day this year and they create their own original play based on the art here that's up at the museum."
This camp's theme is the flowers of Louisiana. On top of the acting, kids also create their own costumes, sets and props. Balkin says they're important skills for a child's development.
"Art can inspire. It can also improve critical thinking skills and it's also fun. So while it's a great place to come and cool off during the summer months in New Orleans, it can also add to their academics."
Sometimes the parents need to have a little fun as well. 'Ogden After Hours,' every Thursday, offers activities for the both the children and adults alike.
"Parents can come after a long day of work, enjoy our music, the kids can hang out and create some art and we always have art inspired by what's going on at the museum also."
It's a unique opportunity to foster your child's creativity and another great way to enjoy the lazy days of summer.
